May is National Bike Month, and bicycle organizations across our area invite you to join fellow cyclists at the annual Bike to Work Day Breakfast starting at 7:30 am in Waterhouse Pavilion in Miller Plaza (850 Market Street).
Since 1956, May has been recognized as National Bike Month, with the third Friday in May as Bike to Work Day, according to the League of American Bicyclists.
Locally, folks have pedaled their way to River City Company’s Waterhouse Pavilion for a free breakfast coordinated by The Chattanooga Hamilton-County Regional Planning Agency (RPA)’s award-winning GreenTrips program. While the event has featured speakers in the past, this year’s emphasis will be on building connections between cyclists and cycling organizations, said Jonathan Gibbons, Senior Multimodal Transportation Planner at the RPA.
“We know that what makes our community such a great place to get around by bike are the people and organizations building a great cycling community,” he said. “This year, we just want to set the table and invite everyone to join us.”
