Local Cycling Attractions and Features

Chattanooga is lucky to have people who are committed to making our region a great place to ride a bike. Thanks to these hard-working individuals and organizations you have access to:

  • Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System – Not interested in purchasing or maintaining a bike of your own? Do you want the flexibility of taking one-way bike trips? Do you work downtown, but live farther away than you are willing to bike? Bike share is perfect for you!
  • Bike racks on buses - CARTA has bike racks on all of its buses. With 16 CARTA bus routes serving Chattanooga, getting around by bike and bus is now even more convenient. You can read instructions for using the racks here, but your bus driver will also be able to show you how to load your bicycle.
  • Bicycle repair stations – Air up your tires, fix a flat, and make minor adjustments at one of three stations around Chattanooga, located at Outdoor Chattanooga, Main Street, and the Riverwalk.
  • Walnut Street Bridge – This historic truss bridge is your car-free connection between Downtown Chattanooga and the North Shore. Share spectacular views with pedestrians, dog walkers, joggers, and fellow cyclists as you ride through this linear park crossing the Tennessee River.
  • Tennessee Riverwalk – This 10-mile paved path is your car-free connection between Downtown, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Chattanooga State Community College. Future extensions will provide connections to St. Elmo and the Moccasin Bend National Park.
