There are many ways GreenTrips can help your company bring additional value to your employees in cost-effective ways. These include:
Implementing the IRS pre-tax Transportstion Benefit. The IRS tax code allows companies to offer employees pre-tax reimbursements for public transportation, bicycle expenditures and related parking. While GreenTrips doesn’t offer tax advice, we can point you to information on the Transportation Benefts. If you are not already offering these benefits to your employees, share the following with your benefits department: IRS Qualified Transportation Fringes - 26 CFR 1.132-9 explained in detail.
Add preferred parking spots for carpoolers. This brief from Best Workplaces for Commuters shares lots of ideas of how and why to promote carpooling, including through preferred parking.
Offer employees a parking space cash-out. One way to encourage employees to carpool, bike, or take transit to work is to offer them cash instead of a parking space.
Add rewards for your employees to the GreenTrips rewards. Partner employers can supplement the GreenTrips rewards by adding their own rewards to be made available only to their employees. These can be anything from a cash-value item, to a telecommuting day, or any other incentive to drive alone less. Employer-added rewards can also be mode-specific; for example, health and wellness prizes can be added in for employees who biked or walked for a specified number of trips in a month.
